Well...had to have the 6qt smart crock pot...now I need to find recipes other than beans and stew. Any suggestions? Saw a post here for Chicken Cordon Bleu...looked good, but I'm afraid to try it...can't eat rocks for supper! Any suggestions are welcome! - Kitty

Here is one that I just made a few days ago and my husband decreed it to be a keeper. Super easy.

Take a whole, uncooked chicken. Wash is and remove any gizzards and such. Salt and pepper to taste.
Rough cut an onion and put this in the bottom of the crock pot. Put a 1/4 stick of butter (optional) inside the cavity of the chicken and put the chicken in the crock pot on top of the onion. Add 1/2 cup of water. Cook on low until cooked through.
(I put mine in mid-morning and it is done by 4:00 or so. )

About an hour before you want to eat add a package of rice and 3 cups of water. I use brown rice. If you are really ambitious you can add some chopped celery at this time also. Cook for an hour (or so) and serve.

Very easy. The chicken is very tender when cooked this way. The rice is flavorful from the chicken juices.

Enjoy.
Karen

Thank you for the ideas! We did the whole chicken..that was awesome. Don't know what I did wrong with the rice. There were some crunchy and some lumpy. Next time I think I'll put french fry cut potatoes on the bottom for the juice. We'll be trying the chuck roast tomorrow and the chicken cordon bleau this weekend. Hopefully this will 'spice' up our menu. We get in such ruts sometimes! Thank you again! - Kitty

There is also a yahoo group for crock pot recipes.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CROCKPOT-RECIPE/

I'm constantly amazed at the different recipes everyone comes up with for their crockpots :)

My kids LOVE this crock pot lasagna - and its so easy! Tastes like you baked it! Just make sure you time it and not overcook it (I did that one time)

If the link doesn't work, its at http://www.cooks.com called Easy Crock Pot Lasagna

I have a Word document with 100+- crock pot recipes I will gladly send you but you must have Word to be able to view it. Most of the recipes also have the WW pts. values.

What is this recipe for? I have the recipe but want to know what the desert is called? There are only two ingredients: sugar and egg whites. You beat them until they are thick and creamy. Then you get a cookie sheet and put the creamy stuff on it in dallops (about 2 table spoons). You bake until they're hard. I haven't tried the recipe. I'd like to know what I'd be making before I make it! I got the recipe out of an old family recipe book.

Add food coloring and make them for ANY occasion!! Showers, Valentine's Day, St Pat's Day, Easter, etc...they're SO yummy! Darn it....now I'm gonna have to make some; haven't made them forEVER. Give your spoon a "spin" and you'll get the little "kewpie" on top.
