Okay, if some of you out there haven't tried this, you need to! This is soooo delicious and sooo easy!!! I ran across the recipe in the Recipes to Share section of the forum. "Cinngarr" listed it for another member that was looking for it. I made it for dessert to go with my "taco night" dinner at church last Wednesday. It was a BIG hit! Here's her version of the recipe and below is how I changed it up just a bit:

Ingredients
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent dinner rolls (I used the seamless sheets that have out now)
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or almond extract
1/2 cup margarine or butter, melted
1/2 cup cinnamon sugar
Directions
1Using a 9 x 13 baking pan (I lightly sprayed mine with Pam), unroll one package of refrigerated crescent rolls and line the bottom of the pan.
2Flatten.
3Mix together the cream cheese, sugar and extract.
4Spread over the crescent rolls.
5Unroll the other can of crescent rolls and place on top of cream cheese mixture.
6Pour one stick of melted butter or margarine over the top and sprinkle with about 1/2 cup of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
7Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes

I added a can of apple pie filling on top of the cream cheese mixture before topping with last crescent sheet (got that idea from "smockinggrandma2002"). And instead of using a whole stick of melted butter to pour on top, I just melted 2 tbsp and brushed over top, then just sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on top of that. I did not use a full 1/2 cup of cinnamon/sugar mixture. I also baked mine 5 minutes longer to have it browned to my liking. We had the Lord's supper at our church service last night with a meal following and at the morning service everyone asked if I was bringing my apple dessert again. So I whipped one up along with copies of the recipe to share. Now I just need to get me a cute casserole carrier made to transport it in. :)

Here's a link to it in the recipe section: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=128662

** Update ** I made one using peach pie filling instead of the apple and it was good, but not as good as the apple. I'm curious now to see how cherry or even strawberry pie filling would taste. May have to try those next. :D

Kay, you can cut the recipe in half and use a 8" square pan. While making the one for church yesterday afternoon, I made us a small one for home using my 8" square pan. Which I think I should of made a full size one because the small one is already gone! :)

I love Crescent Roll recipes and this sound very yummy.....I will use a smaller amount of butter also (I always cut the butter when I can).....do you think I could use cherry pie filling?...I think it's a little juicier than apple filling......thanks for sharing a great recipe. :D

I thought cherry and even strawberry pie filling would be good, but the apple is so delicious, I'm afraid to try anything else. If you try one of the others, please let me know how it turns out.

Thx for sharing the good recipe; now I'll share with you regarding the cute carrier you mentioned.

Take two cute placemats and work 2 buttonholes about 1-1/2 inches in size (buttonholes about 3 inches apart) in the end of each of your placemats.

Put placemats wrong side to wrong side and on outside edges, stitch mats together leaving ends with buttonholes open (this is where you insert your dish with that yummy dessert).

Insert handle of a long wooden spoon (or your serving spoon) down through upper and lower buttonholes and then up through lower/upper buttonholes to close end of carrier. A pretty bow tied to spoon or a napkin folded and tied around the spoon looks "spiffy". These carriers make wonderful gifts!!!

I took this to supper at church tonight and it was a big hit. It was still warm and it was yummy. Lots of people asked for the recipe. I used the apple pie filling. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. We have been having a long rainy day so I went out and got what I needed to try this and oh boy they are so delicious. I added in apple filling and followed along what you did with yours.

This sounds so yummy so I am wondering what do these crescent dinner rolls look like and do we have anything similar here in Oz.

This is wonderful. I made it and shared with the neighbor. You have to have ice Cream with it also!!!!!! Do you have and I won't spell correctly Phyllo dough in OZ. If so use that I think it will be close!

Thank you ladies for your replies. We do have filo pastry here in sheets so will give that a try.

rebel rose, where is the link? I know my eyesight is failing but I didn't think it was that bad

We do have croissants here so maybe they might work as well.

Many thanks.
