I got this recipe from one of the Chaplains I work with at Hospice. It was her grandmother's recipe and is always good.

Spray 9x13 pan

1 box of Kraft Deluxe Mac and cheese (and I have been known to throw in another half cup of elbow macaroni)

Make it according to directions and spread in the pan.

Mix: 1 stick melted butter-not hot!
5 eggs
1 can evaporated milk
1 can of regular white milk
a little salt and pepper if you like

and pour over macaroni

Add 8oz of cheddar cheese (I have been known to add another cup or so)

Mix all together and bake uncovered at 350 for about 45mins.

Let it cool for about 15 minutes to set up before eating.

I am anxious to try this for Easter. Is this a large can of evaporated milk or small? Thanks it sounds good. I am always trying different recipes for mac n cheese.

I hate Mac and Cheese in the box, but hubby loves it. I am going to try this recipe.
Thanks for sharing.

Wow.

Here in England we have to make it the old fashioned way - boiling the macaroni and making a separate cheese sauce - and some of us think people who use packet sauces rather than making a roux from scratch are cheating!

I like the idea of enriching the recipe with the egg mix. Does that make it set more like a custard? You could cut that when it's cold and have it with salad for a picnic lunch.

Lol. Y'all don't have Kraft easy Mac? I don't like it either Lovellenaz. I make mine from scratch, but the boxed stuff is easy.

I am bad about taking off with a recipe and just doing my own from scratch thing. I probably should make this one as is before I start playing with it. Any thoughts as to whether the large or small can of evaporated milk?
So many eat the mac n cheese from the little boxes over here, some people think it is one of the basic food groups. Lol! I had a neighbor whose son often only ate that when he was growing up. If he didn't like whatever they were having he would fix a box and eat it. Now the difference would be the child sticks it in the microwave instead of on the stove. The first time I observed the microwaving of mac n cheese by a young one I was just floored. I don't judge other people though on what they do as the hours the families keep these days are horrific. I suppose microwave meals are better than chips. I'm equally horrified by the continuous soft drink consumption but that's another can of worms. I don't know why they all build the high end kitchens now when they just need a microwave and a refrigerator with a freezer. Lol! Most would freak out at the mess if you tried actual cooking in them.

When I make the mac and cheese from a box I just add some extra motzarella cheese it adds some creaminess(if that is a word) and doesn't seem so dry.
Msippi = I agree with your comments. I understand we are all busy but I worked full time with 3 sons if you take the time there are tons of recipies that are healty and extremely quick to make. Boneless chicken breast cooks up quick always in my fridge. I would cut them in strips and the kids would do the shake n bake better than the fast food. crockpots - wouldn't have survived without mine.

I will have to try the mozarella. I always add cheddar. Yojojo I grew up with two brothers and all their friends who ate everything that would be in our fridge. With 3 it's a good thing you could cook fast. The shaken bake strips sound good -haven't done those in a long time . I will have to make some. Back when I worked there were no fast food places or microwaves. I always relied on the crock pot too or the pressure cooker if we had dinner.

I have never used or owned a pressure cooker. I do remember my Mom pulling it out in the fall/winter and I think we had baked beans every saturday. I think that is the only thing she made in it.
