Hey everyone. I have a recipe that calls for melting chocolate in a double boiler. I usually just use a glass bowl over simmering water, but my friend borrowed the bowl and she is out of town.
Can I melt the chocolate in the microwave?
Thanks Stacy

Yes you can - but make sure you stir it regularly - is better to start with say 10 seconds at a time otherwise it could burn - especially white chocolate.

I always melt mine in the microwave and like KarenJay just about 15 seconds at a time. It will heat up and melt itself sort of. What are you making?

I melt it all the time in the nuker - put it in a freezer grade ziplock and nuke it for 10 seconds at a time.... squidging the bag to make sure it is all melted.... repeat until melted to your satisfaction. Dont do it for long periods of time, you will end up with charcoal (ask me how I know that....)

for icing it works great to nip off the corner of the bag and squiggle it out over cakes, etc :) Easy clean up too!
