I have a wonderful recipe that a cousin shared with me, and everwhere I take them, they are a hit. I have a granddaughter in the Marines that is on her way back to the states after her 3rd tour, and every week when I would send a box, this is one thing that everyone wanted. Hope yall enjoy

1 BOX SALTINE CRACKERS
1 2/3 CUP CANOLA OIL
1 PACKAGE DRY RANCH DRESSING
ABOUT 2 TBSP(OR TO TASTE) CRUSHED RED PEPPER

DUMP CRACKERS IN LARGE BOWL.
WISK OTHER INGREDIENTS TOGETHER AND POUR OVER CRACKERS. I TAKE AN EGG FLIPPER AND JUST START FLIPPING THE CRACKERS UNTIL ALL OIL IS ABSORBED.

These are great with a salad or just with a glass of iced tea. They are not soggy.

I thought all would enjoy. They are one of the easiest thing I have ever found to do. Before I retired, I would stop by WalMart and pick up stuff, then before I got them finished, folks were by my desk. We did not even wait until they absorbed the oil!!!

Try them with York Mint Patties!!!

   YOU mean use 2 bags of the oyster crackers or divide one bag into 2 ziplock bags???
I'm a little confused!! Is this a snack like the "goldfish" crackers?? Is it something I would like to give as a gift to an adult or would children like it too??
Thank you for the idea!

OK my recipe is 2 bags of oyster crackers. I use 1 c orville reddenbachers buttery oil and 1 pouch of the ranch dressing. Then I shake. Sometimes they have time to set and sometimes they don't. If you add the red pepper flakes I don't think that kids will like but maybe. That is entirely up to you. I do put both bags in a large zip bag and shake them in that. They are great hurry and make some you will love and they will be great as a snack gift. We take camping and pass around the fire. We also use the mini pretzels and do the same thing.

I, too, am confused by the comment about trying the York peppermint patties. Would you substitute the patties for the crackers? Then cover in oil and ranch dressing mix? That doesn't sound all that appetizing to me.... :(

These are really good! I add garlic to mine, serve them with a pepper jack or sharp cheddar cheese ball. They aren't soggy, the cracker absorbs the oil quickly. They don't last long at our house. My MIL uses oyster crackers too - for a quick snack at work. :D

Believe the amount of oil is adjustable

I use 1 1/2 Cup - and add some ButterBuds to it with the salad dressing mix.

You can also add: garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, etc. BUT - may not want to combine too many of these

We like the pepper flakes in ours, too.

annienet said that she uses 1 cup of orville reddenbachers buttery oil - and that sounds very good to me - I just haven't been to grocery to buy any yet!

WTG jackiejs! My son really likes them - but he doesn't want to make them! Waits for me to visit to bring or make. And he usually has a request for fried green tomatoes, too!

This sounds good but I have two questions. If you use the saltine crackers do you use
all four packages that is in the box and do you use them whole and not break them up?

Also, the red pepper flakes. I have a small bottle I bought in the Spice department.
Is that what you use? I want to make these so bad but I need more instructions LOL.
Thanks
